Excerpts from the history of IT.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
Steve Jobs 1984

If the 20th century was the century when the humanity only starts it’s road to the freedom from the walls and borders – the 21th century is the century when it will be done!!! It will be the century when for most of the people the governments become something not very important and country – will be just another place to be. 21 century is the century of IT. Even children who was burn from the 2000 have their own category name the E generation!

I am sure that in most of the blogs with are started in this week by students of our IT-College will be a lot of serious dates about very important inventions and breakthroughs in computerizing and IT-technologies. In my blog as the first topic I would like to write something funny (yeah of course about the week topic but interesting light information). Date that made virtual world. So:

First Letter was send by e-mail by Ray Tomlison in 1971 y. He said that first message was very commonplace. Something like QWERTYIOP”.

First spam message was from ALPHANET and was send at the 3 of may in 1978 y. It was delievered to 383 addresses.

First in history of the Internet registered domain was symbolics.com It was done at 15 of march in 1985 y.

First information web-site was founded in 6 of august 1991 y. Still working actually!!! Here its address if interested!

First picture ever uploaded to the Internet was not even close to something scientific like scan of  Newton Drafts or something like it. No! It was the photo of  girl comedy quartet Les Horribles Cernettes.

First message in AOL Instant Messager in the 6th of January 1993 y was send by Ted Leonidis to his whife and the text was: “Don’t be afraid… this is me. Love You!” (if  her could write hundreds of thousands of strangers!!!). The answer was: “Wow!!! This is cool!!!”

First banner advert was sold in October 1994 y at hotwired.com to seven art museums.

First product ever been sold at E-bay was broken laser pointer in 1995 y for 14 dollars and 83 cents. The buyer was Pierre Omidjer – service producer.

First book sold from Amazon is Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought at 1995 y.

Now… These is really-really cool!!!

First phrase ever been told by scype was on the ESTONIAN LANGUAGE !!! It was spoken by one of the developers and the exact phrase is: “Tere, kas sa kuulad mind?” or “Hi, do you hear me (in English)”.

Mark Cukerberg was the first facebookian.  His ID – 4 (first 3 is for testing). First facebookian not a billioner was Aire Hasit from Israel.

First youtube video was recorded at the San-Diego Zoo (2005) by Javed Carim.

And first tweet was at 21st of march 2006 y.

World will never be the same as it was in 20th century. Now days it is not a problem, to watch the world in virtual reality. Even “walk” there with the virtual helmet.

Do you remember in fantastic movies of 90th about the future the very cool effect about the future was that two heroes was talking to each other by videophone, and we though that it will not happen soon. Hello scype!!! Nothing to watch here it is ordinary call now. Or Viber. Or many other!!

OK! How it is sounds for you? Now it is more easier and comfortable to buy furniture such as tables or couch in Internet and not on traditional shopping areas. Why? It is simple. because of the augmented reality. It shows on your tablet in your room where you want to put this table or couch how exactly it will be looking at. It is impossible at the standard shop!

And for the end. Seriously. In my opinion the very important, the most important date in IT is the 9th of January 2005 y. it was then the world in masses knew about the smartphones (and now it doesn’t matter that the first smartphone was made by Microsoft!!). It was the Steve Jobs with his I Phone who changed the world for ever!!!
